Understanding Numbers Behind Business Decisions

Since 2019, we've been helping Australian business owners make sense of financial ratios. Not through complex formulas, but through practical examples that actually matter when you're running a company.

How This Started

Back in early 2019, I was consulting for a Sydney-based manufacturing firm. The owner had decent revenue but kept running into cash problems. When I asked about their current ratio, he looked at me like I'd spoken Mandarin.

That's when it clicked. Business owners aren't accountants. They shouldn't need to be. But they do need to understand what their numbers actually mean before making decisions about expansion, hiring, or equipment purchases.

So we started osmarquilo with a simple premise: teach financial ratios the way real people learn best. Through stories, through examples from actual Australian businesses, and through hands-on practice with scenarios that mirror what you'd face on a Tuesday afternoon.

By mid-2025, we've worked with over 400 business owners across NSW and Victoria. And yeah, we've learned just as much from them as they have from us.

Who's Teaching You

We're not academics. We're former business owners and finance managers who've actually used these ratios to make real decisions with real consequences.

What We Actually Believe

+

Financial literacy isn't about memorizing formulas. It's about understanding what your business is telling you through its numbers. We believe small business owners deserve education that respects their intelligence while acknowledging they're busy running actual companies. Our courses launching in October 2025 focus on practical application over theory. We teach debt-to-equity ratios using real business scenarios, not textbook examples. And we're honest about limitations - some ratios work brilliantly for retail, terribly for service businesses. That context matters more than the calculation itself.

Our next cohort starts October 2025. Six weeks, real business cases, and practical tools you'll actually use after the course ends.
